Voyage of the HMS Beagle

Charles Darwin kept an extensive journal for almost five years while aboard the Beagle as the ship charted and surveyed the coastline of South America. His discoveries during the voyage (especially his famed studies of the Galapagos Islands off the coast of Ecuador) led to his explanation of biological evolution in his later work, On the Origin of Species.

This is a pen and ink drawing, tinted with color pencil. For reference I used a photo of Darwin at the age of 45, about the time when his works were being published. The background is a photo of the floor in my living room. I wanted it to look like rustic paneling. Hope it works!
