“Where the spirit does not work with the hand there is no art.” These meaningful words are from the Renaissance master Leonardo da Vinci. Within the 13,000 pages of Leonardo’s notebooks, among the anatomical drawings, engineering inventions and studies for paintings, there were many proverbs and fables. A few years ago my elementary-aged students dramatized some of his fables in a seven act play we called “An Evening With Leonardo.” At the end of the production they presented me with a poster comprising all their self portraits, with this quote written at the bottom.
I am thoroughly enjoying all of proverbs depicted on Illustration Friday, it’s a great topic. Good job all!
