Wilford Brimley, lovable curmudgeon, star of "Cocoon"

The IF prompt this week immediately reminded me of Ron Howard’s film of 1985, “Cocoon.” To me, a cocoon is kind of creepy. An arthropod winds a mass of sticky thread that comes from its abdomen around its prey or itself. This train of thought led to me to a rather dark but goofy place. Wilford Brimley has a such a grumpy persona in whatever role he appears, whether commercials or films—he’s always playing the same kind of character. I also was thinking along the lines of the Vincent Price movie, “The Fly.”
