Upon learning the Illustration Friday word prompt “confined,” I immediately thought of how the winter weather has confined us to our homes, warm and secure safe from the elements. I thought of bears, mice, turtles and frogs hibernating in their burrows and dens. I envied them, wishing I could find a place to hibernate; I’ll get back to you world, in a couple of months, after a nice long nap. Cats are the masters of napping, they sleep three quarters of their day away, seeking the small confined spaces to curl into balls of fur. This is my cat Mabel, her favorite spot is a cardboard box with an old towel in it. I found this poem written by Eleanor Farjeon (1881-1965), and the image and poem just came together for me.
